FULL DETOX with your Ashtanga practice

No fim, enrolamos o tapete,
limpamos as lágrimas e levamos as lições para casa.
Amanhã há mais!

It's not New that with a regular and consistent practice of Ashtanga yoga, we begin to notice that our body is modified. Over the months we noticed that the arms are longer, the accumulated fats in the waist once ceased to exist, the legs have a more defined look ... It's a benefit of the practice, lose some weight and gain muscle tone, but is not the purpose of Ashtanga Yoga, is just one of its consequences.

The Ashtanga is a system characterized by the synchronization of  breathing and movements and  sequences  of postures that associated with the eye  focus points and the  so called, Bandhas, activate the internal body heat, producing perspiration,  stimulate free blood circulation, increased oxygenation to our organism. Besides these, there ate many other physical effects, consequences that go beyond logic, science, faith, because they enter directly into a energectic plan, a spiritual plan. The practice of postures and vinyasa are just tools to calm the mind so we can focus the mind, to strengthen the mind, making us stronger people and I'm not talking about physical strength, but the other, that which directs us to an internal strength that allows overcoming the difficult practices, the stiff ones and those with pain. Yes, because even here in Mysore, with this teacher and with these advanced practitioners, with the heat and humidity of the monsoon time, we also have the days of "less good" practices, those that makes want to grab the mat and escape home and cry. And is not a cry of being spoiled, neither because we want to do the postures and movements right but we feel limited and restricted in the body. Is an inner cry from within, from a fragile energy, a pure sense of limitation of body and mind. And the perception that the practice is really a powerful source of detox, a cleaning that will advance to the core, to the essence. Going from physical to mental and emotional and all other parts of our being.

But it takes time, consistency, honesty, humility, perseverance, discipline, determination, joy.
We can only  embrace the process, laugh and cry of ourselves, get inspiration from our own practice, our teacher, these practitioners,  those who seem to fly posture by posture and also from others that are experiencing difficulties, and  just allow us to clean, inside and out.

In the end, we wrapped up the mat,
clean the tears and take home the lessons.
 Tomorrow there will be more!
